Ear Candling

Our Ear Candling Therapists are:

Ear candling is a method used for clearing ear canals of wax and accumulated debris and can stimulate the flow of energy to the entire head area, thus promoting an enhanced state of health and allowing pressure balance to be restored.

It is primarily used to relieve conditions of the head and ear area, such as compacted ear wax, swimmers ear, flying discomfort (pre/post), tinnitus, headaches, sinus problems, or simply to relieve stress.

Ear candles are hollow tubes made of cotton or linen cloth impregnated with beeswax, and sometimes with herbs, or essential oils, such as Tea Tree and Eucalyptus with their antifungal and antiseptic functions. Each candle is around 25cm long and burns for 15 to 25 minutes. Each candle contains a separate compartment to collect the wax, and protects the ear from the burning end of the candle.

It is a gentle, relaxing technique. During a treatment you will generally be lying on your side, and the lit candle is gently inserted into the ear canal. The burning of the candle creates a warming vacuum (like a chimney), to draw excess matter from the ears and promote circulation. A soft crackling sound is heard, similar to the noise of an open fire. Popping sounds may also be heard as wax and debris are dislodged from the ear.
